The running back pair of Joseph Yearby and Dalvin Cook has put up great numbers for Miami Central all year. Friday’s game against Dillard was no exception as the two combined for 295 total yards and six touchdowns as they lead the Rockets to a 59-14.
Central got things going early, taking the first quarter 17-0. Then Dillard responded with 14 straight points, cutting the lead to just 3 points. Yearby did not let the Panthers take the momentum for long, quickly responding with his third touchdown of the game. Dalvin Cook also stunted Dillard from further attack, returning a 60-yard interception for a touchdown.
By the half, Central led 38-14. In fact, the Rockets closed out the game with 42 unanswered points.
Yearby led the way with 157 yards and three touchdowns in 16 rushes. Cook carried the ball 12 times, adding on 78 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
On the defensive side of the ball, defensive back Deatrick Nichols led the unit with two interceptions on the Rockets way to shutting Dillard out in three-of-four quarters.
Advancing to the Region 4-6A finals, Miami Central sits in 7th place in the DigitalSports National Football Rankings and 2nd in Florida.
The Rockets’ next challenger is Palm Bay Heritage High School, a 12-0 undefeated squad. The two teams face off on Saturday, November 30.
